Vunobolki, Adamawa Governorship Aspirant Quits APC

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Mr Maurice Vunobolki, has resigned his membership of the party, amidst allegations of absence of internal democracy, imposition, fairness and transparency within the fold.
During a press briefing yesterday in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, Vunobolki told newsmen that he had to quit the APC because of some developments that do not align with his political philosophy and vision.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the current direction of the party, which he argued was a deviation from the former assurances the party leadership had given to all members of a level playing field, irrespective of a member’s status.
According to him, the current direction of the party contradicts earlier assurances given to members about providing a level playing field for all aspirants.
He recalled joining the APC on February 23, 2026, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which was anchored on the promise of fairness and inclusiveness in the party’s internal processes.
According to him, those expectations did not only evaporate, but were now replaced with impositions, while lack of genuine competition became more pronounced within the party structure.
“My decision was prompted by recent developments in the APC that contradict earlier assurances of equity and a level playing field,” he said.
Vunobolki added that although he has resigned from the APC, he remains interested in contesting the governorship election but has not yet decided on the platform he will use.
Meanwhile, he has enjoined his supporters across the state to step back from the APC and await further political instructions.
