Abubakar Bawa, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Taraba State Chapter has grossly violated the Directives of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) headed by the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentaweh, which mandated that no Senatorial results be announced at any level until such results are reviewed, verified and approved by the party’s National Working Committee.

On the contrary, the party’s State Chair in Taraba, announced the Senatorial results of the primary election conducted in the state across the three Senatorial districts.

In the press conference held on Saturday in Jalingo at the party’s Secretariat, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, announced the names of winners of the just concluded National Assembly primary elections including State Assembly, governorship and presendential.

The Senatorial results as announced by Bawa have Senator David Jimkuta as winner, Taraba South, Senator Haruna Manu, Taraba Central, Senator Shaibu ISA Lau, Taraba North.

The APC State Chairman’s statement reads in part, “Today, l am pleased to formally announce that our party has successfully concluded its primary election processes for the various elective positions in line with the guidelines of our great party and relevant electoral provisions.

” Following the completion of the process, candidates have duly emerged for the Presidential, Governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly positions.

“They as follows:

“H. E. Sen. Manu Haruna, Taraba Central

Sen Shaibu ISA Lau, Taraba North,

Sen David Jimkuta, Taraba South.”

Bawa’s actions sharply contravened the provisions and directives of the APC’s NWC body as contained in the statement signed by AbdulKareem Bala Kwali, Chief of Staff to the National Chairman, warning that any results announced outside official channels of NWC’s communication would not stand and advising party faithfuls to disregard such.

The APC National Chairman was quoted in a statement as saying that, “The attention of the National Secretariat has been drawn to various results being announced across states regarding the Senatorial Direct Primaries.

“These unauthorized announcements directly contravene the established the positions of the National Secretariat and the formal directive of the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party. The NWC explicitly mandated that no results should be announced at any Senatorial level until they have formally been reviewed, verified, and approved by the Committee.”

The Directive as contained in the Statement called on all APC members across the States to await genuine Senatorial results from the NWC.

“On this note, we call on all party faithful and the general public to disregard any results being speculated upon or circulated, as they do not represent the official decision of the party.”
