The immediate past Commissioner of Finance Taraba state, Dr. Jesse Adi Ashimate, on Thursday said, his desire to be senator representing the southern senatorial zone of the state is to restructure youth the future, and attract income based infrastructure in the area.
Dr. Ashimate disclosed his desire while addressing Journalist in Jalingo.NewDay reports that the former finance commissioner has purchased the peoples Democratic party (PDP’s) intent and nomination form to contest the senatorial seat representing Taraba south.
According to Ashimate, he will lias with relevants senate committees to attract income based infrastructures across local governments in the zone to boost youth opportunities in human development, and agriculture.
“My desire is to build the future of citizens by attracting infrastructures that would serve as life-changing opportunities for the people; “I will encourage modern agricultural practice for farmers and create a steady market for their products by linking them with companies that needs the products.
“I will open up rural access roads in the senatorial zone to ease the movement of agricultural produce to the markets. I have target to link rural communities with town and markets for easy accessibility and transportation of farm produce; These I believe would enhance connectivity between farmers and middlemen, and as well, attract revenue for the entire Taraba”. Dr. Ashimate disclosed.
The Senate aspirant also stated that his focus for youth would be base on lifetime intellectual and capital investment, away from cash that often serves immediate, but short-term needs.

“My youth focus agenda will see the establishment of an ICT hub in the zone to train young people in ICT skills and empower our women and youths generally with life-changing skills. I will build recreational centres to ensure that our youths become employers of labour, rather than begging for jobs or cash that may serve only immediate, but short-term needs.
Dr. Ashimate also pledged to work with stakeholders in the zone to promote peace and harmony among the diverse ethnic groups to end the persistent banditry activities in the area.
“I want our people to be aware that my decision to contest for the election is not to enrich myself after all, but is to ensure possible development that is being hampered by insecurity and the alarming rates of unemployed youth; I want my constituents to understand and chose the part of building a greater future for the people to thrive.
“For over time, people-oriented and people-centered representation has eluded the people of the zone; “As one who has maintained close touch with the people, I know the problems and the needs of all the ethnic in the zone.
“My primary responsibility as a lawmaker if elected, will be to enact legislation that will address these problems and advance the development of the senatorial zone as well as carry out oversight functions to promote good governance”. He assured.
The aspirant also pledged to boost the education and health system in the zone by attracting facilities, equip with digital learning and medical equipment.
