Nwonyo festival: Gov Kefas place Taraba on global tourism map.- Council chairman.

The council Chairman of Wukari Local Government, Hon. Bala Useni on Monday said the revival of the Nwonyo Fishing Festival by Agbu Kefas has placed Taraba state on the global tourism map.
The council chairman also described the events as a major boost to cultural preservation, youth engagement, and economic revitalisation in the state.
In a statement released to journalist on Monday, Hon Useni commended governor Kefas for hosting the historic Nwonyo Fishing Festival in Ibi, and his active participation in the Jukun Youth Day celebrations held over the weekend in Wukari.
He expressed that the event was also an invitation for investors and tourist, to boost economy through cultural heritage across the country.

According to him, the Governor’s presence and personal involvement in both events underscored his administration’s commitment to promoting unity, cultural heritage, and inclusive development.
“The Governor’s active participation in the Jukun Youth Day demonstrate purposeful leadership and a clear dedication to preserving our cultural identity while empowering young people,” Hon Useni continued
He further stated that the events provided a platform for economic activities, particularly for local traders, artisans, and small-scale businesses, thereby contributing to grassroots development.
The council chairman also lauded the peaceful conduct of the programmes, attributing it to improved security and the collaborative efforts of stakeholders in the area.
He reaffirmed the support of the Wukari Local Government to the policies and programmes of the Kefas administration, expressing optimism that such initiatives would continue to strengthen social cohesion and drive sustainable development across the state.
